For displays and projectors, the image displayed is usually deformed by optical elements or the projected surface itself. ReMap removes those distortions after being applied to the projected images, leading to an ideal and rectified image. This can be used to correct the output of your waveguide or projection system.
For cameras to capture an image, the light entering the optical system goes through a series of lenses, mirrors or waveguides. Non-corrected systems likely suffer from wrapped images or color dispersion of small features. To mitigate these effects, more complex systems can use a large number of lens elements, which are bulky and expensive.
